NEW YORK PREMIER
Shots from the opening of the film "Lord of the Flies" at Lowes Tower East, New York(Images from Kent (Percival) Fletcher personal scrapbook)
--------------------------------------------------- From a castaway waif in "Lord of the Flies" to spaghetti and pop at Sardi's Reluctant Actor on the Town Looking out upon his native New York from the unlikely vantage point of a London bus, 9-year-old Kent Fletcher could be mistaken for a British schoolboy. Indeed he portrays one who happens to get marooned on a tropical island - as do the other chaps - in the film production of William Golding's "Lord of the Flies." The ride on the London bus was part of the gala evening in New York marking the world premiere of the movie. Kent gives a touching performance in a minor part that contributes mightily to a superb film. He grudgingly submitted to such movie-star routines as hobnobbing with other movie stars and going to supper at Sardi's. But he was bound to admit that he cannot see acting as a career; he'd rather be a skin-diver or base ball star.
