All the kids that were ask to be in the movie excepted and all their parents agreed to the three months away on an island with these crazy film makers.

After the film, for a years or two we received letters from the parents of the kids saying it changed their children lives. Almost invariably they went straight to the top of their class. They became leaders in their school. There was a certain independence of spirit. They matured in some way. It was marvelous to get those letters. It was very touching to hear about kids that did not seem extraordinary or marvelous or anything but how their lives had been changed by this.
